After attending Marlborough and King's College, Cambridge where he studied classics and archaeology, he worked at the British School of Archaeology in Athens. E. F. Benson was a wonderful English writer, archaeologist, short story writer, biographer, and memoirist. He was born as Edward Frederic Benson and was particularly famous for writing the Mapp and Lucia book series. Best known for his Mapp and Lucia stories, E.F. Benson also wrote some of the finest English supernatural tales. He was a friend of M.R. James, and in some ways, one can see his influence in Benson's stories. The settings however, are completely different.
